This return has honestly been a long time in coming. But on August 22nd we’re going back to Segennya in Legacy’s Price, book 1 of the Queen’s Soul series. Now, you don’t have to have read Birthright Secrets in order to enjoy the book, about 300 years have passed between then and now so Segennya’s very different from what it was. Basically, if you like Downton Abbey era stuff (which is what inspired the initial idea for the setting) mixed with a bit of epic fantasy and a hint of steampunk, you might like this book. But, without further ado- I present the cover!
Lady Ekesi Segen isn’t the typical noble. Her closest friends are among the business owners of Ravenwood and she has a penchant for putting her own foot in her mouth. She also wields a magic unlike any other—a magic that hasn’t been seen since the age of the Rogue Queen.
It is this magic that helped land her in her most recent round of trouble—a duel gone wrong. While she’s busy paying for her crimes, others in Segennya conspire against her. To make matters worse, the King is missing and leaves a weak throne. To get to the bottom of the mysteries Ekesi must learn about a past she didn’t know she had. Unfortunately, the knowledge places Ekesi in the midst of a battle of warring forces. At the end of it all, she must decide if she is going to carve her own place in Segennya’s history or fulfill prophecy.
Insider info about the cover design, this was probably one of the most frustrating covers I’ve done to date. In case you didn’t know, I’ve done the covers for all the Birthright Secrets books, Ghosts Among the Stars (tried to keep true to the amazing work already done by Comar Covers on the series) and Alliance of Outcasts. It went through a fair amount of trial and error as I was pretty picky over who would represent Ekesi on the covers. In the end, I think I managed it and also captured the heart of the story.
